Gary Yang is behind the label GARY YANG COLLECTION. After graduating with an Honours Degree in Architecture from the University of Queensland in 2005, Gary has been gearing up for his aspiration of becoming a fashion designer. Like many renowned fashion designers such as Pierre Cardin, Gianfranco Ferre and Tom Ford who all began their training in the field of architecture.

With an acute sensitivity for the structural form, Gary found that the discipline of architecture can translate over to fashion design with the same principle in mind-Proportion.

Combining the structural proportion in architecture with the softness in fabric: Gary seeks to design garments with an sense of modernity, elegance and femininity. By employing structured tailoring and clean line silhouettes the designs capture the attitude and sensuality of the modern day woman.

Gary Yang’s Spring Summer 2010/11 collection is inspired by the relaxed notion of holiday and travel. Whether it’s a weekend in Bondi or a Summer in the Hamptons, the soft silhouettes offer versatility from day to evening.

The gelato colour palette is mixed with subtle leopard prints and brocades to create a delicate balance of metallic structure and silk drapery in the aesthetic. Playful shapes alongside nipper in structure, this collection embraces the sunny side of summer with an optimistic mood in the air.
